Ellen DeGeneres is stepping away from her decades-long career in comedy with a final Netflix special, marking the end of an era for the trailblazing entertainer.
“This is the last time you’re going to see me. After my Netflix special, I’m done,” Ellen stated during a July stand-up show in San Francisco.
Fans eagerly asked about her future appearances on film or stage, but Ellen made it clear that she won’t be reprising any roles, including her beloved character Dory from Pixar’s “Finding Nemo.”
“No, I’m going bye-bye, remember?” she confirmed.
Currently on her national tour titled “Ellen’s Last Stand… Up,” Ellen has kept a low profile for the past two years. Despite the controversies surrounding her talk show’s end, Ellen addressed these issues head-on, joking, “I was kicked out of show business for being mean. Next time, I’ll be kicked out for being old. Old, gay, and mean: the triple crown. I am many things, but I am not mean.”
Ellen, 66, will release her final special on Netflix later this year, as announced on her Instagram. Stay tuned for what promises to be a memorable farewell from one of comedy’s most influential figures.
